FWIW I have a brand new set of cross clinchers I'll never use. Let me see what they are and I'll post them up.

was just chatting with a friend who runs --- 12 & 16 psi on his MTB. it was shocking to me. anyway, i guess earlier in this thread i was *very* focused on what people can run where i live. 12 & 16 on the MTB would be destroyed rims here (this guy lives in st louis). i'm still not sure i could get away with 700x32 clinchers @ 20psi.

i recommended to him to calibrate his gauge at those pressures, but he's still going very low.

wanted to post this up as i was wrong earlier in this thread about my experience applying to more than my own riding on local terrain. i wanted to apologize and call attention to it.

No, no, no, you're doing it wrong.  What you mean to say is, you started out idealistic and believing that any tire pressure was OK.  As time went on, it became clear to you that you could not compete at a local level with less than 30 psi.  Subtle hints turned to intimidation and eventually you starting adding more and more air to your tires, even sneaking CO2 cartridges in between stages.  You knew it was wrong, but everyone else did it, your coaches forced you to do it, and it was either play along or get fired.  You are relieved to finally be able to tell the truth, because that's what you wanted all along.  You hope that your honesty helps inspire the next generation of racers to run low PSI without fear of retribution.
