training on CX bike on the road
« on: September 20, 2012, 10:55:53 AM »
Does anyone train (specifically intervals) on the road with the CX bike?  I usually use my road bike for for my interval workouts however I figure it would be good to get used to producing the power on the CX bike since it's a slightly different position & equipment.  Thoughts?

Heck yeah.  This time of year if you see someone around here doing hill repeats they are more likely to be on a cross bike than a road bike.  Personally I throw on my winter road wheels if I'll be riding the cross bike on the road, but I see people on cross tires too.

I never do intervals (prob why I do not win), but last fall/winter I did ride my CX bike on the road quite often. Usually w/ my beater wheels/tires on and not cross tires. If I'm riding on the road though I realllllly prefer to ride my road bike. Such a better ride, IMO.

If your cross bike is heavier it would help more right?

Na, I avoid the road on my CX bike.  Too lazy to change the wheels.  Run tubulars w/ Stan's for racing and training.

not for intervals
Vicelord: if I stay in the right position I could win any of the races I've been in
