Those of you on the fantasy bent should check out Joe Abercrombie's books, starting with the First Law trilogy. Memorable characters, a surprising amount of humor, lots o' fightin' and killin'.

Yeah, those are cool

Paul Auster's City of Glass. Absurdist detective (meta)fiction. So freaking good. On to the next two sort-of-related novellas in the series.

Vicelord: no wonder your girl cheated on you, you're miserable to interact with.

While in the Dominican, I read Welcome to Paradise, Now go to Hell - by Chas Smith.  It's about what happens at the North Shore of Hawaii during the winter surfing season.  It was a great read, especially if you are a fan of surfing.

Then I started "Jailing the Johnston Gang" which is about 3 brothers and their gang who stole and murdered during the 1970's in Chester County.  Another good read, I should finish this book today.
