I read the books last week. The books were far more violent. They had to tone it down (as well as the blatant alcoholism of Hamish) to get the PG

My wife and were talking about it and she thinks, and I agree, that since we never let our girls watch violent movies or shows that they can't really 'imagine violence' when reading it. Seeing it was kind of shocking to them.

I loved the HG  books but didn't care for the movie.

EDR,
Try watching the foreign versions of the Dragon Tattoo series. It all ties together in the end.

Yeah we did too. I was mildly disappointed. I have not read the books so just from a movie storyline perspective I had some issues with the film.
I have the movie on my to watch list but haven't yet, may skip it now.

I still have all those westerns\Eastwood movies you recommended a long time ago, the mild winter meant much less trainer time for me so I didn't watch those yet.

I'm sure that the US versions will tie together in the end, however a good trilogy should make sense from episode 1.  My wife never read that LTR books but found all three of the movies good and didn't feel lost or confused during each one.

I recently saw Crank.

I liked it, but I am not sure why.  Jason Slatham maybe.
Sadly this is bike racing and not everyone gets a pony.

Watched Contagion the other day. Liked it. Thought that Gwyneth Paltrow did a nice job reprising the role of the monkey in Outbreak.

Paltrow is one of the least liked actresses in the business (by the public the industry types love  her).  I've worked on a ton of stuff that she's done, interview and promotional stuff and she is really really nice.
