A Serious Case of HTFU
« on: October 11, 2011, 09:31:25 AM »
Chrissie Wellington won Kona on Saturday.  She had crashed on the bike about 2 weeks before that, and only let on that she had a bunch of bruises and road rash.  She came out of the swim way slower than normal, so people were wondering what was wrong.  Turns out she didn't tell anyone that she also tore her pectoral and intercostal muscles.  Knew she couldn't swim as fast with that sort of pain, so metered herself and let everyone go ahead on the swim, then hoped she would catch back up later.  She did.

I remember a few yrs ago when she got her flat and effed up her tire change so she didn't have another CO2.  She waited like 10 min at the side of the road until someone else gave her another.

She still won the bike leg.
