I wouldn't say worked up....I just don't understand why the tri folks are so excited about a sandbagger. Of course the dude "poured on the jets with a blazing bike"....that's been his job for how many decades?
Sandbagger?

He is racing in the PRO division against world champion triathletes.  Say what you will about LA, but he is no sandbagger.  He was 3rd out of the water!  That in itself is impressive.  Then he killed it on the bike and ran a very good 1/2M to win impressively.  That is a very competitive 1/2 IM.

If he were racing age group, that would be one thing, but he's racing pro. Chris Lieto is an IM champion and he beat him at the same level. Everyone dopes at this level, including <gasp> triathletes. Kudos to Lance, even though I can't stand him.

He's not sandbagging, to be away from Tri's for so long, then to come back and be real competitive is impressive.  Love him or hate him, the guy is a supreme athlete.  In the Triathlete forum, this thread is relevant.

These are the next 3 that he beat.  Not the current #1 or 2 in the world, but very high level competitors.  And remember, neither Florida nor Kona were Lance's "A" race for the year.  That will be the IM championships in November in Kona.

That is why I doubt LA will race the Vuelta.

He is also the #3 Pro in the world right now (at 70.3 distance)

What I've read about him doing the Vuelta is that he'd be doing it as prep for the IM championships, rather than to win. Since he'd be racing against a newly reinstated Contador, he'd likely have no chance, anyways.

Though I'll bet he could beat a Schleck...

why do a climbing race to prep for an IM?  That would be a strange choice of training.  You never know though.

He's not human. I just wonder how long he'll keep at it. Even IM paydays are small change for him.
