Training and weight gain

Yep.

I've been marathon training (race is one week out) and after that I'll start the road to Ironman. Problem is, I'm gaining weight. The long runs/workouts are making my appetite insatiable.

Is there a way to curb this, or at least to lessen the effect?

If you eat 250-400kcal WITHIN 15min of completing an intense workout is will partially curb it. Otherwise, watch your protein/carb/fat balance.  Obviously getting some protein without the fat

What I have been doing is drinking an 8oz. protein shake (36g protein, 26g from the powder, 10g from the milk) as soon as possible after my workout. It kills the hunger and feeds the muscles.

I live in a world that says if I'm hungry I eat.  I have a recovery shake after most rides.  I eat raisins and almonds as a snack to curb the hunger pangs.  I do make my evening meal small though since we tend to eat after 7 and I'm in bed by 10.
