Tri training status
« on: January 13, 2011, 09:30:08 AM »
Let's start this up.

I'm running about 3x a week, swimming 3x, and biking 1x. Focus is on running for the 13.1 in March, then I'll get a bit more well-rounded.

I did a mini-brick tonight.

I ran for 30 minutes, got on the spin bike for 15 minutes, and ran 5 more minutes. Felt pretty good  ;D

why only 15 min on the spin bike?  That is like what I do on the eliptical when waiting for spin class to start.

I got off of it to adjust the seat, and the timer reset, so I just gave up.

Remember last time I was on the spin bike? I consider this a huge success.

I just did 1:30 on the trainer.  Absolutely mind numbing.  But tomorrow the office is closed, so I'm back to the pool (and will be trying to contact the swim coach).  Hopefully it will be warm enough (I'm hoping it will hit 40) to ride to and from the pool.  Our roads look like shlit so I'll ride my old raleigh.

5mile ride to the gym
45 min of intervals on the elliptical (3min with HR 165-175--3min recovery)
30min of circuit training
15min cool down on the spin bike
5mile ride home.

I probably should have ridden outside longer to take advantage of the warm day (it hit 40 today) but I had to go to the gym anyway to schedule time with the swim coach.

I'm beat.

I did 1.5 hours on the spin bike today, followed by 750m swim. Everything felt good and I (think) I've got the swim figured out.

The spin bike kept resetting, and the pool got taken over by kids, or I would have done more on both exercises. It was a good day. 2 Garmin files from the spin, because I did 2 different programs.

The weather is very bad, and I had an awful day at work. I wanted to get home and run outside, but screw it, I'm taking a nap for now.

Ran a little under 2.5 miles, then did a lot of stretching and icing. Testing my knee.  It did okay, but still some discomfort.  Real test will be how it feels tomorrow.

Also, since I had to cancel my May olympic race, I won't be racing until late June at first.  I'm contemplating signing up for a Half Ironman in May just to get in a race.  Not so sure about that though.

It was snowing outside.  My knee is sucking.  I grabbed a Sam Adams Winter Lager and watched people get stuck in their cars in the snow outside.  So your 45 minutes on the trainer shows an amazing amount of motivation compared to me right now :).

Been suffering from some knee pain (ITBS).  Been taking it easy and stretching.  Ran a few days ago and it hurt a bit less.  Ran today and it didn't hurt much at all.  All that stretching is paying off.  Not sure why I always avoid doing it.
