Been suffering from some knee pain (ITBS).  Been taking it easy and stretching.  Ran a few days ago and it hurt a bit less.  Ran today and it didn't hurt much at all.  All that stretching is paying off.  Not sure why I always avoid doing it.

because you were young and didn't need to.  The older you get, the more important stretching becomes.  In 5-10yrs you'll be doing yoga just so you can get out of bed

   Probably.  The stretching did it.  I rested for 2 weeks without really stretching, then went out and ran and it still killed me.  Ran 15 minutes and stretched two days after that, and I was close to back to normal.  Did 30 minutes running tonight and there were still a few spots where I got a twinge of pain, but otherwise good.  I'll go for 5 miles tomorrow, but think I should be good.  I'll be stretching more from now on.

OK, I'm reviving tri training status to keep myself honest ;)

Did a swim + run today at the gym. Swam .75 miles and ran 3 on the treadmill.

Ok Jen

4 mile run Friday, 1.5mile swim Saturday, 32mile bike (at rep of 6-7 throughout).

Then I baked a cake for a friend's birthday, making my own icing. That entailed whisking over a double boiler for 15 min constantly.

I made homemade cream cheese icing the other night; it had to whip for 4 minutes! But it was tasty.

Btw Jen, thanks for reviving this thread. It made me see how far I've come in the past year.  Now if I only could be actually training the way I was last yr, I'd be ok.  Instead I'm working too much, eating too much, and not exercising enough  :hammer:

Bike today.

3x20' intervals with 10' recovery between.  10' warm up/cool down.

I blew up on the last interval.  I was going by RPE without a hr monitor or a pm.

73deg with 25mph straight line winds from the south.

I didn't have my garmin on the bike, but I assume my speeds varied from 12mph (during the intervals) to 35+mph depending on the direction I was going.  This was also the first time I did any kind of "training" other than JRA rides since I had my gi bleed in September.

This will be my third week of IM build/Fink's intermediate IM training plan.

It is going well so far; the only difficulty I'm having is the 2x a week days with two workouts. Budgeting that time is tough. Today I ran at lunch and then swam after work. I felt like I was at the gym all day.

At this point, average should be around 10 hours/week, but it is increasing steadily. Build is 10 weeks.

This is excellent, Jen. Keep at it. Two-a-days are always tough. If you have to skip one, don't try and make it up. Side with rest.

23 hours for April.

7 hours running, 11 cycling, 5 swimming, and a few of strength training. This month felt good, and I didn't miss any of my Fink workouts. Woooooooo  :bday:
