A local cat2 mtb racer just took possession of a 16 lb. carbon Scott 29'r with tubular ENVE wheels and lots of other cost conscious parts.  For whatever ungodly amount of money all of that cost it should be good enough for the two races left this year.  I am going to go out on a limb that jeepnut didn't have the chance to test ride such a bike.


Right, budget wouldn't allow for such a bike.  Also, I was aiming for a shorter travel FS bike for this duty.

an LBS guy informed me that he thinks 29'ers will eventually be the industry standard and that 26'ers will be a thing of the past.

You're looking for a 29'er, and the LBS guy is trying to sell you a 29'er.  :rideover:


I do not agree with that. A lot of singletrack racers still use 26'ers because of their cornering and descending

correct.
