MTB Ride Picture Thread
« on: October 15, 2011, 03:46:53 PM »
Since this part of the site didn't have a picture thread, I made one. Got out today and hid in the woods to avoid the wind. Nice day on the hardtail.

Climbed to the top of the ski hill (the wind up there was something else).

Durrr...tough choice :)

Thanks Seth, definitely fun. Been off the MTBs for way too long so I'm correcting that situation. What's weird for me is that I haven't ridden a hardtail offroad like this since about 1999....suffice to say, I don't mind a hardtail at all now. Although at some points yesterday and this morning I really missed having 6" of rear travel from my AM rig :)

Anyways, few pics this morning, just spent time riding. Did snap this of a small buck off the trail.

Greasy, thawed trails today. Slip-sliding fun, but not fun jamming the bike up with mud and leaves a few times. Hell of a workout and a great ride to work on handling skills. I love letting it slide around (and trying staying upright). Only low-sided once today :)

Like hell if I'll complain about getting out on Christmas day!

Well not an actual ride picture...just an after pic of the inaugural SS ride. Please excuse the messy garage....

Didn't feel like riding the trainer or boring pavement today. So, I gave the MTB a go after our (finally) first snow of the year. Trails weren't bad where I could ride in fresh powder and the tires could dig down. Where people had snowshoed and hiked, it was rough as crap and little traction was to be had. I need a fatbike.

First bike tracks on this section of trail.

Rest break. Lots of work pedaling today...

First tracks...

Little buck (most people would gladly shoot something like this, but I like to let them get a hell of a lot bigger). Nice to see him though...weird he was right by the sledding hill at the park. There was a bigger 10 pointer with him, didn't get a pic of him though.

Got out yesterday and today. Great traction with studded tires. 3-4" fresh snow this morning made it even more nice on the trails this morning.

Yesterday afternoon...

Making snow at the ski hill this morning. Pedaled up to the hill to check it out.

Yup. 51 miles in the woods. Said f*** it, I'm taking the day off of work and going mountain biking. It was a smart decision.

How many hours in the saddle?

Props for taking photos.  I went on a glorious fall MTB ride today (a paltry 18 miles) and after I got home I thought, I should have taken some pics.

I'm a little beat up but mostly due to hitting the deck a couple times. Early on in the ride, some wet flat wood in the trail caused a very fast lowside where I felt my head smack pretty well. Then later on my front wheel got stuck and I had a half-assed endo that hurt a bit. Saddle was a bit too hard for being on a hardtail ride that long too. Ok for XC racing, but not for longer rides. So yeah, we'll see how I feel tomorrow :) Need to check out the helmet too.

Thanks. Just over 5 hours in the saddle today.

I was hoping to get some vid with a rig I made, but the stupid plastic tripod mount threads on my Canon P&S decided they didn't want to hold and in a few seconds the camera was bouncing down the trail...
