Bontrager Affinity RL Saddle = Ass Hatchet
« on: March 16, 2012, 08:16:59 AM »
I tried using the Bontrager Affinity RL saddle for a few weeks, for me, it is an ass hatchet.  It will be going back to the LBS and I will return to my trusty Inform RL saddle, my ass will be happy again.

I'm sure you cell mate will also be happy again ;)

One thing that really sucks about our sport is that there is really no way to 'test' some of the most important parts we use before plunking down some substantial cash.  Bikes and saddles being the big two.

Bontrager offers a 30 guarantee for their saddles, others do too, the LBS just doesn't always tell people.  But yeah, it is sometimes a big risk, plunking down some $$$ for gear that may or may not work out.

I just got a demo saddle from Trisports.com.  It's $25 and includes shipping both ways.  If you end up buying a saddle from them after the demo, they give you a $20 credit back, so only $5 net.

That's not a bad deal, however, I have been using bontrager inform rl's since 2009, I get them for ~$60 from my shop, I tried the new affinity, it didn't work, I ordered 2 inform rl's.  Just gotta pick the up.

I've done the same thing with Glory Cycles.  Some shops do it with Fizik as well.

Trisports does ISM, Cobb, Fizik, and Selle San Macro, if anyone is interested. I thought they did prologo too, but that doesn't appear to be there anymore.

Doesn't Cobb have a really long manufacturer guarantee?
Do you think we're gonna make it? / I don't know unless we try / you could sit here scared to move / or we could take them by surprise
