There is a quarq on the crank but the part that broke has nothing to do with the quarq, and I don't switch it between bikes. Since I built the Venge up I've taken it off twice to clean it.

Any pictures of the crank?

The bolt broke right at the inner edge of the joint, but I unscrewed it (with my finger) so I could see it.

Wow, really sorry to hear. Did you try contacting specialized? Even though it is a long shot they tend to be pretty good with their warranty from my experiences. Especially considering it was an S-Works Crank that snapped they may take some pity on your pocketbook.

On my own note of broken stuff: Just tested my 350 lumen Minewt and 1200 lumen chinese cheap light (A video is coming soon). Then right at the end like a total idiot I think "I wonder if the chinese light battery will power the MiNewt", it's not like I studied electrical circuits in college or anything and I blew out the diode in the MiNewt.

Took above mentioned stem up to the lbs today to see if they could extract the broken off bolt.  A few dulled bits later they gave up so I may try the higher end shop I rode up to yesterday.

Happy ending: Specialized sent me a new frame. Thanks Specialized! Ironic twist: they charged me for a new bolt...

Yes. Not upset at all about the $5 charge. It's just funny.

Congratulations, that must be a relief not having to deal with a repair.

Haha, gotta love big bike companies for stuff like that.

"Well it was your fault for over-tightening that bolt so we are gonna charge you for it, but have a new frame on us."

Glad to hear everything worked out.

This. Especially since it wasn't their crank.

I'm glad they repaired it. 1 frame cost to them isn't a big deal and look at the reaction in this thread alone.
