I wouldn't've chosen a shih-tzu, nor would I have named her Angel* but Allah pretty much dropped a peach on my lap. I used to visit my infant niece & nephew and this dog and I bonded immediately. One day after a visit, I was waiting at a stoplight; just as it turned green and I was about to proceed, I felt a little something touch my boot. This little dog had chased me down the road and wanted to get up on the bike with me! There were cars waiting behind me, and if I hadn't felt her scratching through my boot, she would surely have been run over. I scooped her up on my gastank and took her back, but when my 2-year-old nephew started smacking her around and she started snapping back, my sister told me to take her.
Angel's 13 years old now and she goes everywhere with me.

And when we watch my Mom's & sister's dogs, she's the senior sergeant in charge of the platoon.

*Tragically, her predecessor (whom Angel resembles a good deal) accidentally hanged herself when left unattended at the bathing sink by an employee of the PetsMart in Moreno Valley, CA

Sadly this is bike racing and not everyone gets a pony.

This one is also named Indy. My wife rescued him before I came into the scene, and he was a member of the panel in charge of approving my relationship with her.

My wife's dog was on the same panel; I kept bacon in my pocket to make sure that he voted in my favor.

I didn't know she had a dog until I got to her door for our first date. I later realized that not everybody hears an 80 lb mutt with a deep voice and thinks "Oh how cute, she has a dog!"
