My goals have shifted..for the last three years I've hit 142-143 at my peak for my A races..giving me a w/kg around 4.1..right now I'm at 145-146 with a w/kg of 4.4 and rising..thing is I can't seem to drop any more weight.  I generally have a the month of December and January to get my weight down then start building up the FTP.  But December was shot due to work and we started racing earlier in Jan than normal.  Now I'm in the thick of the racing season with races coming just about every weekend.  If I cut back on my food intake I'm starving and can't really train effectively...and I'm not putting in the long miles to lose weight.  I'm going to go into the mountainous stage races coming up with more weight but a higher w/kg.  I was kind of hoping to keep the FTP gains and still get down to 142...but I just don't see that happening this year.

Ineedy.

My goal is less weight oriented and more body-fat oriented.  I can get leaner and still have a few weeks to get there.  For those who have never attempted but are considering to dropping significant weight in the thick of a season, it's a significant waste of time.

You are likely to accomplish one of the following:

1.) Failure to lose weight but have a decent season
2.) Lose weight at the cost of a miserable season

So...take that for what it's worth

I think I may have to start tracking what I eat so I don't cheat on the calories. I'm a great example of what happens when you exercise and think you can eat what you want ... +2 pounds in the last month :(

I am trying lose weight as well.  I had the same mentality that I do some exercise then go out and eat a big burger.  Never was able to lose much.

I just installed a calories tracking app in my phone and it suddenly made acutely aware of how much calorie intake I have...

Future note: Muxinex makes me gain a ton of water weight. I was up to 147lbs+ last week. I stopped using it and I'm back down to 142.6lbs this morning.

You can be the strongest guy in the field but if you don't know how to use it, when to use it, and have the b*lls to use it at the right time, you'll lose.

that footlong subway steak and cheese at 2:30AM was a bad idea.

Eating late is generally a bad idea. Eating that late is a really bad idea. But who am I to talk?

I'm still at 172, but I'm getting veins on my lower legs, and even on my thighs a bit. So +4lbs, but looking like bodyfat is down.
