I wish I knew how to embed video in this forum. There's an awesome Chef Ramsay clip on risotto.

I think I've only had risotto once in my life. now you're making me want to get some and start cooking it. i think my suitemates and I are going to get the cheapest dining plan next semester and cook as much as we can, so I'll try to make rissotto a few times a week. thanks echappist.
You can be the strongest guy in the field but if you don't know how to use it, when to use it, and have the b*lls to use it at the right time, you'll lose.

If it's youtube, just paste the link and it embeds itself

Man this Prednisone is killing me..I'm up to 155 this morning.  The problem is three fold, first I have really bad insomnia second it causes me to retain water and add fat and it really increases my appetite.  I'm hungry all the time, 10min after eating I'm hungry again.  With luck I'll be down to 5mg by the end of next week and my doc says the side effects should be more manageable then.

^over memorial day weekend my daughter had an allergic reaction to something that caused her eyes to swell shut and was on prednisone for a week.  take 4-year old girl temperment and add prednisone and you have little girl in constant 'roid rage.  her appetite was absurd, and she was even more difficult to convince it was time for bed than usual.  that week sucked!

even the almighty benadryl couldnt counteract that stuff.

good luck EDR, you'll be off it soon enough and hopefully it helps you get back to square health wise.

Dude that's horrible. A 4 year old can't even begin to understand what is happening.  I know I've been very very conscious about controlling my temper.  I've had to apologize to the kids and the wife a few time for snapping at them.  The good news is that the Prednisone has helped me get my UC back under control and at least the extra weight won't really be a hindrance to my TT goals at states in 5 weeks. By the time the State RR rolls around I should be back to my skinny ass self.

I've been dropping a bit after holding around 170 for the last few months.  Under 168 today, so I celebrated with a McDonalds breakfast.  I'm doing it wrong.

When I was on Prednisone, my ankles swelled so badly that you could see where my socks were 3 hours after removing them.  I lost 20# of water weight in the 2 weeks of the taper.  That hunger is terrible too.  And I craved all the wrong foods.  I feel for you.

Weeks of "not caring" ended today when I stepped on the scale this morning.

169 -> 179. the self loathing is palpable.

My dad was on that stuff and I recall his ankles swelling like crazy too. Nasty stuff.

I've been down to 143lbs or less for the last 4 days in a row and I just got a bit light headed when I stood up. If I lose one more pound I think I'll be good to go.

Ugh.  When my little sister was five, she was on prednisone for a long period of time.  Lukemia.  I was eight.  That was not fun.
