I knew it! The MT rep upgraded me to a 2 under false pretenses!  I had neither the points for it nor do I have leg veins... I have foot veins... but they stop at the ankle.

I don't have many/any now, but assuming that I'll be in as good or better shape than I was last year - during I sure will.

fwiw - last year i was a very strong, but tactically stupid 4.

Tactically stupid... that's me. And I was appointed cat 3 "team captain" for the races this weekend. Oy.

btw, if you believe those body fat scales, I either have about 10% in "normal person" mode and 4-5% in athlete mode.

Then I'm at 24% BF in normal mode (there's no other mode so I figure it's got to be in normal mode).

That's about 40 pounds of fat there. 40 pounds!

I'd like to get my BF % tested accurately. It was 6% 25 years ago when I was 5 lbs lighter .... with no veins to speak of. I doubt I've gained muscle since then.

Wait, you're saying they're accurate? I just subtracted 10% from whatever the scale said.

Do lots of foot veins mean one is fast, or, just old?

I have lots of foot veins and I am neither fast nor old. Your hypothesis is void.

I think it means you have low body fat/the right genetics for that.
Do you think we're gonna make it? / I don't know unless we try / you could sit here scared to move / or we could take them by surprise

You are not going to get any argument from me on that! I don't have a measurement, but, I would say, indeed, I have very low body feet fat most everywhere, except for my waist  :-X

You can be the strongest guy in the field but if you don't know how to use it, when to use it, and have the b*lls to use it at the right time, you'll lose.

I discovered some leg veins.  But it's only because I'm pale from the winter and can see them under the skin.  They aren't really popping out.  Boo.
