Just found this thread and guess I can join in now.

I acquired a Quarq Cinqo Saturn Compact recently and only managed to get 2 rides out of it before the transmitter completely stopped sending Power readings to my Garmin Edge 510.

During those two rides, the readings kept dropping throughout the sessions. When it came to the third road ride, it worked for half an hour with jumpy readings though the 10s average seemed pretty normal. After a quick coffee stop the the 30 mins mark, the readings completely came to a crashing halt and has since stopped transmitting.

I have tried using Qalvin to get it going but it simply won't transmit despite being detectable by my ANT+ cellphone and the Qalvin.

So, what should I do now since Cinqo Saturn is no longer supported by Quarq and they are asking me to get a replacement Riken or Elsa. Until then, any tips to revive the powermeter or just a case of electronics gone bad?

Regards,
Pat

double check that you have the latest firmware for the 510. There used to be a glitch where it would cut out, as you're describing, but has since been resolved. that's one possible solution.

Make sure the battery tabs are making good contact.  I had to bend mine upwards a bit.

At this juncture, I am taking in any advice and appreciate all that has been given.

* Garmin Edge - Firmware (To try out)
* Battery Contacts (Done)
* Remounted Chainring Bolts (Calibration went from -1094 to -410)

If calibration is still enabled, there is still a faint possibility of reviving the system... until then, stay tuned.

That's too bad. Are they saying they can't fix it or they are just encouraging you to switch to a newer model?

Has anyone updated their Quarq Riken or similar to firmware 20 or above? Apparently they made some changes to their zero offset stuff because of electronic warmup or something or another. Also a fix for battery life during inactivity (which confirms my 2-3 month battery lifetime instead of 6-9 month). Thinking about buying a dongle to upgrade.

I updated my elsa to firmware 22.  It seems to hold a more consistent zero value but to be honest I don't check the value often, just zero it, so I don't have a good sample.

I used a dongle and android phone.  the android app is buggy, use the iphone one if you have an iphone available.

Ive been thinking about taking the magnet off (its fallen off once but I got lucky and it landed on the bottom bracket cup and was close enough to still work) but havent yet

I still need to get a dongle. You got such a great deal and I can't find anything like that now!  :facepalm:
