Training Status
« on: January 12, 2011, 01:32:48 PM »
I guess I get to be the one to start this here...

Training today was VO2 intervals, 6x4.

Fail.

It was warmer than I expected, and I overdressed. I went out way to hard on the first one and predictably faded throughout the rest. On my last one my power was dropping below threshold so I bagged it and went and did my cooldown.

4' @ 382W (5.9 W/kg)
4' @ 350W (5.4 W/kg)
4' @ 334W (5.2 W/kg)
4' @ 333W (5.2 W/kg)
4' @ 317W (4.9 W/kg) <--- I should I stopped here.

20' average of intervals was 343.2W

40' NP including rest was 290W

I'm glad to see this forum is not blocked for you :P

today's training status = couch.

I did a lot of squats yesterday though.  And about an hour on the rollers, and core, and other weights.

I'm doing couch/figure what the heck I'm doing in the next couple months intervals.
Do you think we're gonna make it? / I don't know unless we try / you could sit here scared to move / or we could take them by surprise

Today I did 2:20 on the rollers at tempo. For some reason indoor rides are always sources of frustration for me. I got a flat like 10' in (something in my tire), then the battery in my pt went dead (and my spare batteries are at school  >:( ) then my derailleur starting acting all wonky. I watched some good documentaries (one about cav, one about "the science of lance armstrong" and some episodes of beyond the peleton), so it was kind of enjoyable. 2*20s tomorrow.

question: how many weeks before your "peak" do you guys start throwing in vo2 intervals? I'm thinking of starting them about 1 month before my first race (which is like 2-3 months before my "peak").
You can be the strongest guy in the field but if you don't know how to use it, when to use it, and have the b*lls to use it at the right time, you'll lose.

I registered for a race on 2/26. Time to work on getting back that top 10% of my ftp that I seem to have lost.

Last weekend was 180 miles/15k climbing and 600TSS. This weekend is 3 days, aiming for 200/18k/750.

Using the weeks right now to recover, do short intervals and commutes.

My race is still as a 5, so I'm hoping no one takes it seriously and they let me win.

my recent training has consisted of:
1)going over a calendar with a fast guy who is helping me out,
2)making my gf feel cared for
3)getting other stuff taken care of
4)canceling the team training camp

so with all that out of the way, I'll be off work early tonight and hopefully get a 2h trainer ride in.

making my gf feel cared for

This is very important and should not be overlooked or neglected.

VO2 intervals again, 8x3. Went much better than yesterday. I held back a bit at the start and was much more consistent throug the intervals. I flubbed the last one a bit but it was mostly downhill, so it was expected.

Either you've gained 20lbs or I am way behind in w/kg.

Today's ride on the rollers was full of fail. Failed on my 2*20s and cut the ride short at like 1:20. I'm so done with riding inside. I can't even handle it anymore. I hate the winter so much. Hopefully I can get outside tomorrow. Next year for winter break I'm shipping myself off to somewhere warm.
