I'll blame you when I get my ass kicked.

Say hi while you're here and if you want to come use our tent to warm up you're welcome to. Just look for a Giant (the brand not the size) tent, our kits this year are black with pink stars all over.

No doubt.  What races are you racing these days?

Probably Sun Devil on the 7th and Avondale on 21st. Perhaps Tolero but I've not heard good things about that course, thinking back to 2012 "there's a dumpster" isn't something you should ever hear when someone tells you about a race.

Someday you have to come visit NYC and race at Rockleigh.  It's one of the best weeknighters in the northeast, usually attracts a few domestic or even international pros.  The course is around an abandoned mental hospital in North Jersey and features:

- decrepit, overgrown, literally crumbling buildings and roads, like a post-apocalyptic movie set
- random abandoned/dumped furniture (sofas and chairs) around the course
- urban wildlife (turkeys, squirrels, rats -- not uncommon for a rat to run under the pack and get run over a few hundred times)
- a throttle point between a dumpster and a permanently parked pickup truck
- sewer grate in the middle of turn 1, usually marked with an orange cone which is only slightly less of a hazard than the grate
- turn 3 always smells like somebody died there, not sure why
- literally, a speed bump on the back stretch

Better to know about the dumpster beforehand than to find out AFTER hitting it...right?

Actually, that doesn't always help.  There is a spring crit series in Ann Arbor that ive done since I started racing..2 years ago it was on a new course, with one of those USPS/FedEx/UPS Mailboxes in the grass in the turn at the bottom of the hill.  Even with repeated warnings not to hit..one of the cat 5's fixated on it halfway through their race and smoked it.

Those things are really loud.

2x20 tonight.  Well, almost 2x20.  ~17.5 minutes into the second one and my doorbell rings..I jump off my bike thinking its one of my neighbors (upstairs or nextdoor).  Ended up being my sister. Jumped back on bike and tried to finish the last 1.5 minutes.

I could have ignored it and finished my interval.

Easy hour last night on the trainer (115 watts of easy).  More intervals on tap for tonight.

Took a shot at the Zwift SST (Medium) workout.  2x30 sweet spot over/unders.  At my ftp, it was 5 minutes 240/5 minutes 220..repeat 3 times for an interval.  And to spice it up they threw in a ~110% one minute effort between the two intervals.

Made it halfway through the second 30 minutes.

Thats a tough workout.  I will finish it eventually.

If I were to only do one thing it would be 3x20 or 2x30 SST intervals.  I would do it at least once a week until the spring.

i will work up to this 2x30 sst workout, and eventually 3x20.  I have a feeling the 3x20 would be.."easier"..then 2x30.  I guess I will find out when I do it

i've been doing a lot of 3*20s lately. easy is NOT an adjective i would use to describe them. they'll make your eyes bleed if you do them right.
You can be the strongest guy in the field but if you don't know how to use it, when to use it, and have the b*lls to use it at the right time, you'll lose.

For me, the hard part is making my legs get back to work after the 5 minute rest period. To me, it feels a lot more mental, but I may be wrong.

"easier"

the 2x30 over/under was a tough workout.  3x20 of straight sst I would imagine isnt as tough because they arent as long of an interval.

If they are easy then someone somewhere is doing them wrong
