Upped my 5min power by 17w this morning...did it on second 5min interval. All three were above my 28 day best.  I'm still down about 25w from my peak though.

How did it go Jen?

The coach I met with told me I was not as bad as I thought. I'm just too tight so I'm fighting myself. She told me to just keep swimming and gave me a few tips. She is a triathelete and said she will just keep an eye on me if I will motivate her on the bike. No problem!

Swimming tonight. Plan is to just see how far I can go in 25 minutes. I want to gauge my endurance. It will be piss-poor, I'm sure  :(

I'm setting your goal. 800 yards. Sounds reasonable to me, since my best T20 (swimming equivalent of a 20 minute interval was somewhere around 1750 or 1800.
Do you think we're gonna make it? / I don't know unless we try / you could sit here scared to move / or we could take them by surprise

I did 500 yards in about 18 minutes or so (with pausing). I didn't see the goal in time  :(

I'll be swimming tonight too. I ate a big nasty lunch so it might be a bit later...

I'm thinking of going swimming tonight. That's as far as I have got.

Fixed for me.

Contemplating the idea again of participating in some sprints since I'll be at the events anyway. I can walk the run. Figure I can possibly complete the sprint distance in the time it takes Mr. TS to do the oly distance at events that run both at the same time.

I'm guessing this will go about like how it does every time I start swimming: go to pool, suck, but have fun. Next day: Excruciating back pain, never go back to the pool.  :(

OK this is something I know about (after my Tues night with an instructor).  You are probably too tight and twisting at the waist when you are breathing.  Relax, think about having a grapefruit under your chin when swimming (to prevent the neck twist or neck extension), and allow your entire body to turn with each stroke.

Wait, didn't I hand out the grapefruit advice somewhere?

I will think about this if I go. I always thought it was from the extension of the lower back that sort of naturally happens.

You may be arching to breathe, and breathing too forward.
